A passion for fishing developed from watching my father fly fish for trout on the banks of the River Strule in Co Tyrone near my mum's family home and for brook brownies at Tal-y-Bont not far from the site of my great-grandfather's smithy.

Lucky piking hat!
Dan as done it again... I'm sure it is the hat... I'll rent it off you!!
My kiting pal David Tough sent me this email: "Dave, Been trying to get a double out of this section of river for years, and then Dan goes and catches a 14lb 8oz grrrrrrrr. That's my piking done for this season. David"

It was a great way for us to finish the season, just a pity it wasn't my fish. Well chuffed for him though, honest.
Nice looking fish. That hat is a bit special
