Tube flies... what's with it?

I've been working hard on a project and still am... I'll let you in on the secret over the course of next week. In the meantime...

Following the British Fly Fair International 2009 a couple of weeks ago I decided to start tying some tubes!

So a pike fly and perhaps some salty patterns for next year... the pike pattern was a hit with a pike taking the fly at my feet... sadly not hooked... but they work!

Love the top one David,Can see why you were saying it was a bugger to cast. Still distance isn't everything. I have a nifty trick for you next week for raccoon fur tails to stop wrap arounds on the hook.

When tying with materials remember when shaping a clump of Slinky blend pull the center out to a fine taper on both sides.tie in just off center then fold over itself. the next clump you apply cut 1 & a 1/2 inches off and do the same. This will give you a more defined shape to the fly without having to use scissors.
